We are seeking participants for a new clinical research study investigating osteoarthritis of the knee.
If you're experiencing difficulties with knee osteoarthritis, you may be eligible to participate in a new research study that is currently available at certain centers in the United States. The study will evaluate a potential osteoarthritis treatment that is being developed to potentially reduce the pain of the affected knee. If you qualify you will receive:
Your knees will be thoroughly examined and you will be guided through the study by healthcare professionals
You might be eligible to receive compensation for your time and travel. You don’t need health insurance to participate in the study
You will be part of testing a new possible treatment for osteoarthritis. The treatment is administered by one injection into the affected knee

What is required to participate?
You might be a candidate for the study if you:
- Are between 40 to 75 years old
- Have a Body mass index (BMI) < 38 kg/m2
- Primary source of body pain is knee pain
Have constant moderate to severe symptoms of one or both knees for at least 6 months despite having tried at least 2 of the following conservative treatments:
- Activity modification
- Weight loss
- Physical therapy
- Opioids
- Anti-inflammatory medications
- Injection of hyaluronic acid or steroids

Duration:
The duration of the study is 5 years. During the first year there will be 6 visits to the clinic. During the second year there will be 1 visit to the clinic. During the last 3 years there will be one phone call yearly to follow up.
Is a placebo being used?
Yes. Participants are divided into five groups. One of these groups will receive a placebo.
Will the results of the study be published?
Yes
Will participants be able to continue taking the medication after the trial?
No
Study purpose
The purpose of the research study is to evaluate how safe and effective a new gene therapy, called GNSC-001, is when given as a single injection directly into the knee joint for people with osteoarthritis in the knee.
The study will look at any side effects, how well the body can handle the treatment, and how the therapy affects the knee joint.
The study has been approved by the local institutional review board and is registered on clinicaltrials.gov.
Costs
All study-related medications, analysis, clinic visits, and procedures will be provided at no cost. Travel compensation for participation may be provided and can be discussed with the study personnel at the clinic.
